Sen. Oduah’s motion on the need to boost Agricultural production, through prompt distribution and optimum utilization of fertilizer in Nigeria, a special case for the agricultural active Anambra North senatorial zone

The Senator representing Anambra North in the Nigeria senate, Sen. Stella Oduah has once again made a special case for improved farming activities and food production across her zone which is the food basket of Anambra state and other areas across the country.

She made the call in a motion on the floor of the senate stressing the need to boost agricultural production through prompt and optimum utilization of fertilizer in Nigeria.

This motion is aimed to address the efficient and prompt distribution of fertilizer across the country, while recognizing the different farming seasons across the country due to geographical differences which is a peculiar issue among farmers in Anambra North.

This motion will address the issue of government promoting increased local production of fertilizer to meet the rising demands from farmers.

Issues of fertilizer availability at the right time and right quantity has been a recurrent problem bedevilling agriculture in Nigeria leaving a huge deficit on attainment of full agricultural potentials of the country amongst major agricultural communities.  80% of Nigerian farmers are peasants who require Government intervention in form of inputs for maximum food production, fertilizers are important inputs for farmers as it enhances crop performance.

This motion is a special one for the majority of farmers in Anambra North who engage in productive Agriculture, this will be an attempt to further increase farmers income and food availability in the zone. This is another important move by the ebullient soft spoken senator in a bid to gradually address all peculiar challenges facing farmers in her zone. Senator Oduah has made honest efforts to draw government attention to all critical sectors which will better the people on whose mandate she is serving today as a senator.

Sen. Oduah has over the years stand out in performance in the red chambers, making invaluable contributions to the activities of the 8th senate and distinguishing herself in facilitating projects for the zone. The people of Anambra North would be glad the votes casted for the lawmaker in 2015 was a right step in the right direction and hopefully won’t have reasons not to desire more quality representation.

SENATOR STELLA ODUAH’S NYSC BILL, A CORROBORATION OF HER PASSION FOR THE YOUTHS

SENATOR STELLA ODUAH’S NYSC BILL, A CORROBORATION OF HER PASSION FOR THE YOUTHS

Distinguished Senator Stella Oduah sponsored a Bill on NYSC tagged:
NYSC Act (Amendment) Bill 2017
“An Act to amend the National Youth Service Corps Act, CAP. N84 LFN, 2004 to provide for free and compulsory acquisition of vocational skills by corps members, and for such related matters.”
The Bill was designed to curtail the rising unemployment among the youths head-on by empowering our youths through various forms of skill acquisition that suits their respective passion. The Bill is at committee stage awaiting Public Hearing.
It’s crystal cear that yearly hundreds of Nigerian youths are pushed into the labour market after one year compulsory NYSC for the nation. During this period, many are forced to go to many remote areas they have never been to before all in the bid to perform their primary function as youth corpers to the nation. Many of these youths waste this precious one year achieving barely nothing rather even jeopardizing their lives in some cases, while praying that the one year elapses as quick as possible.
Many of these young people are paid stipends that is not enough to take care of their feeding let alone savings for life after the service.
When these young people complete their service, they come out to join the long queue of unemployed youths seeking employment in our already saturated labour market.
Many of these youths fall into the waiting hawks called traffickers, yahoo yahoo masters, kidnappers, prostitutes etc who mock them daily for walking the streets looking for unemployment that does not exist when they have opportunity to become rich overnight.
This pressure sustains as many months go bye no work, no means of survival. The implication is desperation to survive which metamorphoses into willingness to do anything at all cost regardless of the implications.
Our indefatigable senator Oduah realized this challenge, so in consonance with her passion and vision for the youths, she proposed this bill.
The Bill will compel FG to include skill acquisition program fully funded for the youths to diversify their options by learning any skill of interest to them ranging from fashion and designing, make-up artist, music, movies, catering, et al. This makes it easy for the youth to prepare and equip his or herself for the task ahead after the one year service.
The purpose is to reduce the number of unemployed youths as many will diversify into various skills they acquired during the period of their service thereby become entrepreneurs instead of waiting for the white collar jobs that are not forthcoming.
This is in tandem with the vision and passion of our dear Senator who has repeatedly demonstrated her love for our youths. A passion she has consistently demonstrated by empowering many youths in the constituency to make them self sufficient and future employers of labour instead of waiting for the depleting job opportunities.
Many youths of Anambra North are beneficiaries of this ongoing policy which has changed the lives of many people. As we speak now, many more programs of similar purpose will be unveiled soon to accommodate the future of many youths away from paid employment when they can do better as their own boss.
When this Bill is passed, our National Youths Service will be a window of developing the entrepreneurial skills of Nigerian youths and building a future that is anchored on many entrepreneurs that will be future employers of labour as we see in developed countries of US, Europe, China et al where many people have become Billionares just by creating their own world through skill acquisition and entrepreneurship.
This will eventually stimulate the growth of the GDP of our nation vis a vis reduction of unemployment and alleviation of poverty.
Anambra North is blessed and lucky to have a visionary leader like our indefatigable Senator Oduah whose leadership has continued to impact the lives of many especially the youths.
It can only get better for our people under her leadership.

Senator Oduah moves to ensure availability of reliable and healthy water in rural communities in Anambra North

Senator Oduah moves to ensure availability of reliable and healthy water in rural communities in Anambra North

Sen. Princess Stella Oduah, one of the outstanding performers of the 8th senate, one of the brightest in the south-east and unarguably the Amazon and game changer of her senatorial zone of Anambra North has proved herself a seasoned legislator.

A close watch on her style of representation and activities in the red chambers clearly show a visionary leader with a workable blue print on how to address infrastructural lacks in her constituency especially as it pertains basic social amenities. Out of Sen. Oduah whooping record breaking 37 bills and motions, over 70% of the bills seeks Government attention on her zone.

One of such invaluable efforts to further enhance the status of basic social amenities in her zone was her motion for the Federal Government to urgently embark on massive provision of boreholes in rural communities in Anambra North, Anambra State and communities in other state of the federation.

This motion is to address the dearth of drinking water in Anambra North to help those rural inhabitants that rely heavily on unhealthy water sources for their daily lives and agricultural activities.

Owing to productive  agricultural activities in the zone, agricultural camps exists in segregated areas which requires adequate water supply. This motion when implemented will in turn reduce the menace of water borne diseases in these areas and in turn reduce the threat to lives of children who die yearly for water related diseases.

This is a well thought out motion, as a good percentage of the  people of Anambra North senatorial zone in rural areas still source domestic water from streams, rivers, dams and regulated ditches.

What senator Oduah has done and is doing in Anambra North, the zone she represents is numerous especially on her life changing motions and projects, she is indeed setting a very high standard for other senators who will follow up after this glorious representation but most importantly Anambra North senatorial zone must ensure Senator Oduah returns to the red chambers for a continued quality representation come 2019.

Since the reward of good work is being asked to work again, indeed she deserve another term.

STELLA ODUAH’S PASSION FOR THE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT UNRIVALED

Senator Stella Adaeze Oduah has been described as a as woman who never looks back when it comes to empowering and developing the youths. Her contributions and impact so far, in less than a decade has actively and totally defined her doggedness, commitment, desire for success and drive to leave traces of greatness and legacies for posterity. They completely outweigh the role of many who have been in politics for decades without any contributions to the growth of their communities and Nigeria at large.
Recently, the public discourse has centred on Nigerian Youths, with analysis of their roles towards the growth of our economy, if positive or negative.
For Senator Stella Oduah, there is isn’t any base to debate the potentials of Nigerian Youths, rather her major focus has remained the passion to empower the youths in our society. In her words,
“If you empower the youths, you have solved 70% of our problems as they will become future employers of labour that will carry the torchlight further”
She has continued to work in tandem with this vision yearly with many youths benefiting from different empowerment programs under her auspices and tutelage.

The senators stand is that empowering this demography and making them entrepreneurs will bring out the creativity in them and help bolster our economy.
All over the world, good leaders crave and maximize on the potentials of the youths because they remain the future of every economy or system, but here in our country, to many, the youths are just tools to be used and dumped at their beck and call. To these class of people, there is nothing good about Nigerian youths.

For Senator Oduah, the youths cannot be schemed out if we must achieve success in all aspects of our system. That’s why all her efforts have all targeted the youths to show them a pathway to life and greatness as entrepreneurs.
Her dream is to ensure that every youth in her Consistuency regardless of his or her educational background will not have cause to rely on anyone to survive rather each will be empowered to help contribute their quota towards the growth of our economy.

If all Nigerian politicians will devote their time and interest to sponsor programs that will stimulate the growth of Nigerian youths like Senator Stella Oduah, the narrative about Nigerian youths will change forever.

Senator Oduah through Maxi-Life foundation  roll out scholarships to over 500 Anambra North indigenes

Senator Oduah through Maxi-Life foundation  roll out scholarships to over 500 Anambra North indigenes

The senator  representing Anambra North  senatorial  zone in the 8th Senate, Senator Princess  Stella Oduah has had keen interest in the maximization of human resource potential of the zone since her sojourn  in the red chambers.

Owing to Senator  Oduah strong belief in the invaluability of human capital development  for societal growth, over the past three years she have invested hugely in project and schemes aimed at developing  the cream of productive hands and minds especially  among the youth to ensure the potential of the  human resources of the zone is not left untapped or when tapped is not fully maximized.

As a product of sound moral and academic upbringing, Sen. Oduah took it  upon herself  to bridge the gap in access  to quality education between the haves’ and the have-nots’ in Anambra North  senatorial  zone.

To ensure the academically sound students from indigent families across Anambra North have access to quality education, Sen. Oduah through Maxi-Life foundation  ( a foundation  initiated in honour of Maxwell Chinedu Omabuwa Oduah-Etoromi of blessed memory) rolled out scholarships which cut across post primary and tertiary  institution, institutes of vocational  studies and special trainings centres.

Through this scheme alot of children and youths have been taken off the streets and currently  enjoying the academic and training excellence in their different  institutions  amongst which are;

1. St John High School Odakpu Onitsha- post primary.

2. Federal College of Agriculture , Ishiagu, Ebonyi state.

3. Mettalurgical training institutes, Obosi, Anambra state.

4. Grundvig institutes Oba, Anambra state.

The quality and transparent  representation of  the most distinguished Senator  Princess Stella Oduah is one which many politicians  must emulate, her representation  has been people oriented from the outset and her giant strides could only be an explanation and confirmation of her excellence  in all she does Sen. Oduah has simply done so much in a short time for her zone.

Senator Oduah’s motion for establishment  of inland ports in Onitsha, Enugu and other land-locked states – a move to provide one of the greatest needs of the Igbo nation

More often than not the Nigeria electorates complain of political  misrepresentations, passive and lacklustre involvement of legislators at all levels in making relevant  laws which contribute to the well-being and address the problem of a particular people, zone or the country . However,  this is a direct opposite of the quality of representation  Sen. Princess  Stella Oduah gives to both Anambra North indigenes, the Igbo nation and the country. Her active involvement  on the floor of the senate has resulted in high number of motions and bills.

Most importantly every of Sen. Oduah’s bill or motion addresses major national or regional problems, such was her motion for the federal  government to establish inland ports in Ontisha, Enugu and other land-locked states.

This motion seek to address  a multi-generational deficit the Igbo nation has suffered, especially  traders around Ontisha the commercial  nerve of the southeast which coincidentally is in the zone the most distinguished  Sen Oduah represents. The motion was designed to reduce the challenges business men and women in Ontisha and Eungu with high volume of economic activities go through daily to get their imports down to their destinations from major sea ports a cross the country by road.

This will also reduce pressure on roads which are currently used to move goods and heavy equipment from the existing  port of entry, this will also help the federal  government to increase revenue base while many unemployed youths will be engaged. This motion as it pertain Anambra North is a peculiar one, this motion will not only bring relief to traders but will yield revenue for the zone, create jobs and generally affect the purchasing price of goods which is most beneficial to small income earners.

The efforts of Sen. Oduah  and her dogged fight to draw home development is without doubt a rare one, her inputs on the floor of the Senate clearly showcase her understanding of peculiar challenges of her zone, it further shows how much she has integrated herself with the happenings in the grassroot of Anambra North.

Sen. Oduah have simply brought glory to her zone and have proven herself to be a true daughter of Igbo nation.

SENATOR STELLA ODUAH ON SIGNING OF SOUTH EAST COMMISSION BILL

SENATOR STELLA ODUAH ON SIGNING OF SOUTH EAST COMMISSION BILL

The senator took a stand unflinchingly on the importance of the South East commission bill at the inauguration of the Coalition of South-east Youth Groups were she spoke. She went further to explain the importance of this bill to the South east, sighting the economical importance of ndi igbo noted by their patriotism and investments across the country. The senator further elaborated that ndi igbo have not had their fair share in the ”Nigerian Enterprise and could put their loyalty in question, thus the importance of this bill.

”Loyalty is sustained by trust and commitment. The Igbo deserve commitment and attention. They deserve a South-east Development Commission. Though this may not be an end, it is a means to it.

As of today, the south-east is the region with the least federal government presence – in terms of projects. The region grapples with ecological problems, bad roads, poor electricity, unemployment and decrepit infrastructure.

It is also the region with the least appointment in the federal government. Besides other factors, the neglect of the region fuelled the recent agitations for an independent state by some groups.”

The Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Princess Stella Oduah stressed that the bill is all about creating a commission that will provide and implement a roadmap for the development of infrastructure and social services in the south east consisting of five states – Anambra, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo. Certainly laying appropriate groundwork for massive infrastructural development in the region.

She recalled,

”Last year, I supported a bill seeking the establishment of the North-east Development Commission because it was the rational thing to do as a Nigerian. The region is in dire a need of reconstruction owing to the impact of terrorism.

I believe the south-east, which suffered the ravages of a civil war that are still visible today, needs urgent infrastructural attention. It is in dire need as well.

With the signing of the South-east Development Commission bill, a process of healing will have been initiated for the Igbo. I think it will be the beginning of healing for the people when their region is given due federal government attention.

The Igbo need a sense of belonging in a country they have invested so much in and even given their lives for.” She asserted..
