
The senator representing Anambra North senatorial zone Sen. Princess Stella Oduah has encouraged multi-nationals and other companies to step up their participation in corporate social responsibility.
This call was contained in a motion moved on the floor of the Senate, this motion aims to address the harm that some of companies inflict in their host communities such as they pollution of the air and farmlands. Sometimes there are no measures to address the hazard despite huge revenue generated to the detriment of the host communities. This motion will also help to foster peaceful co-existence between the host communities and the companies.
The Distinguished Senator believes some Nigeria-based multinational companies are not contributing effectively to the growth and development of their host communities despite the huge environmental hazards that their activities pose. This is unacceptable as some of these multinationals engage in meaningful corporate social reponsibilities in other countries where they do they business. This uncharitable act has resulted in a series of hostilities between host communities and staffs of these multinationals. Sen. Oduah believes the multinationals must wake up and rise up to their reponsibilities to their Host communities.
This motion in its peculiar manner will avert possible hostility in host communities of these multinationals Anambra North communities, because it is no longer news that the zone is oil rich and also adorned with other natural resources awaiting exploration. This will not only bring developmental strides in the zone but will ensure sustained peace between host communities and the multinational hopeful.
The distinguished senator has shown her self as seasoned legislator, capable of making relevant laws which will pivot her zone to greater heights. Nigeria needs more of the soft but elegant law maker if we are to attain her goals.
