Security of lives and property is a key priority of any serious government.
Nigeria is at present grappling with terrorism, armed banditry, and the likes. Anambra state, in particular, is bedevilled by kidnapping, youth restiveness, armed and unarmed robbery.
But in the face of these security challenges, some police stations in the state, specifically in Anambra North are decrepit. This naturally impacts negatively on the performance of the police in the area.
On assumption of office, Sen Oduah identified the infrastructural deficit and decay of police facilities in Anambra North. She swung into action by facilitating the remodelling and reworking of police buildings in the zone, in keeping with her commitment to ensure that the zone, being a commercial hub and the food basket of the state, is safe.
Sen Oduah facilitated the massive construction and reconstruction of decrepit and dilapidated buildings and facilities in major police stations across the zone to create an enabling environment for security personnel to carry out their duties.
Singlehanded, she attracted these projects geared towards revamping police facilities in the zone.
1. Okpoko Divisional Police Station;
Construction of Okpoko station and construction of inspectors and SARS quarters (ongoing).
2. Iyiowa Divisional Police Station; Construction of Iyiowa Odekpe police officers quarters with 140m fence (ongoing).
Construction of police station and police quarter in Anaku, Ayamelum LGA, (ongoing).
Construction of police quarters and fencing of Atani Police Station (ongoing).
Sen Oduah’s stewardship can be best described as transparent and exceptional.
Anambra North Senatorial Zone has never had it this good!
