About 200 petty traders and widows today received financial grants to support their various businesses courtesy of the Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial Zone,Senator Princess Stella Oduah.
The event which took place at the Catholic Women Organisation Bethany House, Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha, attracted beneficiaries from across the seven local government areas of the Senatorial Zone.
Speaking on the ocassion, the Chairman of the MaxLife Foundation, Rev Fr Donald Uzoh commended Senator Oduah and described her as a humane woman whose actions in the Senate centres on the welfare of women and the less privileged. He recalled how the Senator awarded scholarships to over 1,700 students who are presently studying to acquire knowledge and skills.
In his remarks, the Parish Priest in charge of St Mary’s Catholic Church Onitsha Rev. Fr JohnBosco Okafor said Senator Oduah was an exceptional senator, describing her as generosity exemplified. According to Fr Okafor, many politicians do all kinds of things to acquire power but Senator Oduah has always believed in hardwork and in God Almighty. According to him, Oduah is not a hit and run politician but one who always comes around to identify with her people. There has been and are many senators he pointed out,who pile up money at their homes but would never give out to the poor masses just like Senator Oduah.
While addressing the jubilant women,Senator Oduah advised them to make good use of the grants given to them adding that with proper management, the money will go a long way to support their businesses and families.
The Director General of CWO Archdiocese of Onitsha, lady Ngozi Nwanosike speaking, commended Senator Stella Oduah for her kind gesture which had been part of her yearly exercise, she prayed God sustenance of the Legislator.
Highlight on the ocassion was songs of praises for Senator Oduah and distribution of envelops containing the grants to all the beneficiaries.
