The distinguished Senator Stella oduah speaking on poverty eradication bill on the floor of the Senate, expressed deep emotional hurt at the rate of poverty in the country and how little the situation has improved over the years.
Noting to the president of the Senate how every member of the red chambers has reflected in their manifestos an attempt to address the issue of poverty, born out of concern for the high rate of poverty infestation in the communities across the country.
Passionately supporting the poverty eradication bill she further put forth highlights on the agencies that had been put in place to combat this economic ailment, stating that the turn-over hasn’t been encouraging enough and still unable to combat poverty efficiently, pegging the obvious reason on the temporary nature of the agencies.
The senator made her submissions citing strongly that this bill will bring changes to that effect, removing all the adhoc issues of the agencies as they are translated to commissions with the hope of some day becoming a ministry so as to have a permant poverty combatant institution in the country. She elaborated further the benefits of this transition referring to it as a funnel where everything that has to do with poverty eradication can be funneled through. Policies that stand the test of time continually implemented and working document and formulation continually improved upon.
Senator Stella Oduah hailed the very well articulated bill and gave her 100 percent support that the bill be expedited sooner than later. She remains one of the senators that have fought for poverty alleviation in every way humanly possible with every resource at her disposal, and she has said many times that it will be a fight she will continue to pursue.
